Our 3 Days Akagera Safari Tour begins with arrival in Kigali, where you will be welcomed by your professional safari guide for a short briefing about your journey. After breakfast or lunch depending on your arrival time, you will depart for Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda along the border with Tanzania. The scenic drive of approximately two and a half hours takes you through Rwanda’s rolling hills, vibrant countryside, and local communities, offering a beautiful introduction to the Land of a Thousand Hills.
Upon arrival at the park, you will check in at your selected lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, you will head out for your first game drive across the vast savannah plains of Akagera. The park is home to the Big Five, including lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino, as well as giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and a wide variety of bird species. As the sun begins to set, the golden light across the plains creates perfect photography moments. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness. Dinner and overnight at; Akagera Rhino Lodge
After an early breakfast, you will set out for a sunrise game drive, the best time to spot predators such as lions and leopards before they retreat from the heat of the day. The northern sector of Akagera offers open grasslands and rolling hills where wildlife is abundant. Your guide will help track animals and share insights about the park’s conservation success story, which has restored Akagera into a thriving Big Five destination. You will return to the lodge for a relaxed lunch and some leisure time before heading to Lake Ihema for an afternoon boat safari. The boat cruise offers a different perspective of the park as you glide past pods of hippos and large Nile crocodiles basking along the shores. The lake is also a paradise for bird lovers, with fish eagles, herons, and kingfishers frequently seen. As the day ends, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of Rwanda’s only savannah national park. Dinner and overnight at; Akagera Rhino Lodge
On your final day, you will enjoy breakfast before exiting the park, you will drive back to Kigali, arriving in time for lunch or your onward flight from Kigali International Airport. If time permits, you may opt for a brief city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s history and resilience.
